Summertime is thrilled to invite you to I Love Tony Danza — Mary T. Bevlock’s book launch for PORTRAITS I MADE IN THE VIRUS: MY ZOOM PALS published by THIS MUST BE THE PLACE out of Philadelphia.

PORTRAITS I MADE IN THE VIRUS: MY ZOOM PALS is a comprehensive portrayal of artist Mary T. Bevlock (Center for Creative Works) and her journey to maintain social connection and artistic inspiration during the pandemic.

Over the course of ten months, Mary invited friends and strangers, young and old, to join her on Zoom for portrait sessions and conversation. Mary asked questions as she drew — are you Italian? What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Favorite soap opera? She created their likeness in vivid, expressive drawings, all from her basement studio. Mary completed over eighty portraits in colored pencil, now chronicled in her book.

PORTRAITS I MADE IN THE VIRUS also includes snippets of conversation that articulate reflections on her life, career, and experience during quarantine, as well as her artist manifesto.

Come celebrate the book release and Mary’s undying love of Tony Danza at Summertime on October 30th. In addition to selling original pieces and signing books, Mary will be drawing (costumed) portraits of a few lucky visitors (complimentary with a book purchase).
