Art Walks and Talks (Our New Program) - Currently Enrolling!
Summertime is currently recruiting for Art Walks + Talks, an 10-week art class and journey through New York’s most inspiring creative destinations for artists with and without disabilities.
We are looking for people who are 18+ and feel comfortable exploring public spaces in the city. Each week, we will visit a different museum, gallery, artist studio, or artistic landmark and get creative based on what we see. We will tour spaces, spark discussions, and learn from the best artists of New York’s past and present. We will then incorporate this inspiration into artwork of our own!
Art Walks + Talks is for you if you…
-Love exploring new places and learning about art
-Want a supportive and inclusive community of people to make art with
-Are ready to be inspired by this glorious city
-Feel comfortable visiting new places in New York City – including Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens
The session begins on March 18th - May 27th, 2026. We will meet every Wednesday from 3pm - 6pm at a different location. We will send out each location a week in advance and artists are responsible for traveling independently.
We accept self direction or private pay ($150 each class), and have sliding scale spots available. Artists must commit to the full 10 sessions. Interested? Email Priscilla for more information (priscilla@summertimegallery.org).
Are you ready to make art with us?
1.) Fill out this new artist form and we’ll get in touch with you soon!
2.) Summertime will call or email you within two weeks to check in and set a date for an introductory chat on Zoom.
3.) Intro Chat: We will meet on Zoom to get to know you and your artwork and see if Summertime is a good fit. We’ll tell you more about Summertime and the different programs we offer. Please bring 5-10 sample artworks to show! (Families and/or Service Providers are welcome to attend, but not required.)
4.) Summertime will check in once again. If we’re on the same page, we will set a date for a Trial Day at Summertime.
5.) Trial Day: You’ll see what it’s like to spend the day as a Summertime artist in our community. We’ll make art together in our beautiful Brooklyn space! No need to bring any materials, we’ll supply them all.
6.) Feedback call: Next up… You know it! Summertime will check in to see how the day went. If we want to move ahead, we will set up a time for an Intake Meeting at Summertime.
7.) Intake meeting: This is where we get into the nitty gritty of your goals, preferences, needs, schedule, background, and absolutely anything else we should know to make you happy and safe at Summertime. Please fill out this emergency contact form before the meeting!
8.) We will then work with your support team to get you enrolled in Summertime as soon as possible. This process normally takes a few weeks but can take up to a few months.
9.) Welcome to Summertime. You’re officially a Summertime Studio Hours artist. Welcome to the family!
