“I want to sell my paintings!  I want to shock them with my art! I want people to remember me when I am 119 years old up in heaven.” — Jean Wilson

Jean Wilson b. 1958 is an artist and musician who practices out of Arts of Life in Chicago. Wilson gets to the emotional core of her subject matter, which she depicts as largely and loudly as possible. Drawn to animals, she concentrates on what makes her subjects powerful, dangerous, and respected. Specific attention is paid to teeth, claws and glowing eyes.

Printed by Du-Good Press, the first and only Black Female owned Fine Art Printshop in New York. Established by Leslie Diuguid in 2017, Du-Good Press collaboratively prints for artists, designers, illustrators, and galleries.

The sale of these prints helps fund our collaboration with Design Advocates, who are generously redesigning Summertime’s space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to convert from exhibition to art studio and back again. Together we hosted two in-person participatory pin ups to showcase and invite feedback from artists on accessibility, storage, tables, seating, ramps and lighting. Their comments and aspirations were then incorporated into the final designs for the space.

Design Advocates is a platform for architects and designers to share resources and collaborate on efforts to serve the public good through pro bono projects, research, and advocacy.

Arts of Life is an art studio for artists with physical and intellectual disabilities in Chicago, IL.
