Anna Schechter and Sophia Cosmadopoulos have been passionate proponents of artists with intellectual disabilities since 2005, serving this community in a myriad of ways.

Taking parallel paths to reach Summertime, Anna has worked at YAI Arts in New York City, and Bomb Diggity Arts and Spindleworks in Maine. Sophia was the Gallery Manager at LAND Gallery, and has worked at Pure Vision Arts, AHRC, YAI Arts, and volunteered for New York’s HAI and Creativity Explored in California.

Combined, they have curated, executed or facilitated over 50 exhibitions—national and international—including shows at Sotheby’s, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Outsider Art Fair, Fortnight Institute, Western Exhibitions, and Institute 193.

They have expanded visibility in the design world by developing products and books designed by artists with disabilities, sold at the Whitney Museum Shop, Printed Matter Inc., and Blu Dot Furniture.

Sophia and Anna are committed to finding creative and progressive opportunities for the community and the artists they serve, taking these innovations a giant leap forward with Summertime.
